The BTe² is a digital trigger that combines CARL WALTHER’s proven trigger technology with an integrated analysis system. It records key performance data and allows this data to be evaluated using the SHOOTER ANALYZE app.
The trigger connects to a smart device (smartphone and/or tablet) via Bluetooth.
Yes. The BTe² trigger is approved for Bluetooth use. This allows the trigger to connect wirelessly to the SHOOTER ANALYZE app on a smart device.
The previous BTe trigger is based on an analogue system. The new BTe² is a digital trigger with integrated analysis functionality and a Bluetooth interface.
The main advantages are:
Integrated analysis functionality: Records aiming trace, stability, rhythm, trigger force, trigger travel and canting.
Online and offline recording: Data can be recorded both while connected to the app and independently within the trigger system.
Analysis at a later stage: Stored data can be retrieved from the trigger system and evaluated in the app after training or competition.
Background recording: Relevant data is recorded in the internal memory while shooting, without requiring the smart device to remain permanently connected.
The BTe² trigger technology therefore enables detailed, data-driven analysis of individual shooting performance and supports targeted improvements in the shooter's performance.
No. The previous BTe trigger is an analogue system and is not compatible with the new SHOOTER ANALYZE app.
The new BTe² trigger can be retrofitted to existing KK500 and LG500 models, provided the respective models are designed to accommodate the BTe trigger.
If you are unsure whether your model is suitable for retrofitting, please contact your authorised dealer.
The integrated analysis function records six key performance parameters:
Aiming trace: Movement of the aiming point during the aiming and follow-through phases.
Stability: Stability of the rifle within the aiming area.
Rhythm: Timing and sequence of the shot process.
Trigger force: Records the force applied to the trigger.
Trigger travel: Movement of the trigger during the shot process.
Canting: Displays the rifle's tilt along all three axes.
Data can be recorded in both online and offline modes and analysed afterwards.
Yes. The BTe² trigger can store data internally without an active connection to the app. Its circular memory can store more than 250 shots.
The stored data can subsequently be retrieved and analysed using the app.
1. Connect the BTe² trigger to the SHOOTER ANALYZE app.
2. Open the stored offline session or retrieve the recorded data.
3. Analyse the recorded data in the app.
Tip: Check the memory before starting a new training session or competition. Delete older recordings if necessary to ensure that the data can be clearly assigned to the correct session.
The app is available free of charge from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
The app supports German, English, French, Spanish and Simplified Chinese.
1. Activate Bluetooth on your smart device.
2. Open the SHOOTER ANALYZE app.
3. Press and hold the trigger blade for approximately ten seconds until the LED on the side of the trigger flashes BLUE.
4. Select Connect Weapon in the app.
5. Select the desired trigger.
A successful connection is indicated by a green bar in the app.
Press and hold the trigger blade for approximately ten seconds until the LED on the side of the trigger flashes GREEN. The BTe² trigger switches to offline mode and disconnects from the app.
Yes. You can customise various settings, including:
Your username
Light or dark mode
The name of your rifle or device
Certain settings require the BTe² trigger to be connected to the app. We recommend using the serial number of your rifle as the device name, for example.
Under Settings → Language, you can access the language settings of your smart device. The available languages depend on the corresponding app configuration.
The BTe² trigger features an integrated lithium-ion battery and is charged via the USB-C port on the side of the trigger. The digital BTe² trigger is supplied without a charging cable.
A full charge takes approximately 120 minutes.
The operating time is approximately 20 hours in online mode.
During charging, the LED lights up RED. The exact battery charge level can be displayed in the app.

The trigger does not need to be switched off manually. It automatically enters standby mode after a preset period. Depending on the setting, this occurs after 10, 20, 30, 60 or 90 minutes.
Your data is stored locally on your smart device. There is no automatic transfer to a cloud service. CARL WALTHER cannot access your data.
Yes. Follow these steps:
1. Open the Analysis section of the app.
2. Select the desired session.
3. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the app.
4. Select Export.
You can then share the file using WhatsApp or another available application, for example.
1. Save the received file locally on your smart device.
2. Open the Analysis section of the app.
3. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the app.
4. Select Import Session.
5. Select the saved file.
Updates for the SHOOTER ANALYZE app are available through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
New firmware can be downloaded from the CARL WALTHER website. Please refer to the following link:
Walther BTe² – The First Integrated Analysis System for Competition Rifles
Save the downloaded firmware ZIP file to your smart device.
Under Settings → Firmware, you can select the corresponding file. Connect your smart device to the BTe² trigger and proceed as follows:
1. Open Settings in the app and select Firmware.
2. Tap Select Firmware and choose the appropriate ZIP file.
3. Flash the firmware. During this process, keep the smart device close to the trigger to ensure an uninterrupted connection.
4. Once the update is complete, reconnect the BTe² trigger to the smart device.
5. Recalibrate the trigger.
6. Open Settings → Calibrate and follow the on-screen instructions.
Calibration is required or recommended in the following situations:
After a firmware update: Calibration must be performed again.
After changing the trigger settings: If the trigger pre-travel, trigger force or release point has been adjusted, the trigger should be recalibrated.
The trigger force check is an electronic safety function designed to prevent an unintended shot from being fired when the trigger force is set very low.
It is particularly relevant when using very low trigger settings, for example below 50 grams of release-point force, where strong movements during bolt closure or external impacts may occur.
The function can be switched on or off as required.
Our recommendation: Keep the trigger force check enabled to reduce the risk of unintended shot release and support the safest possible shooting experience.
All applicable ISSF rules must be strictly observed during competition.
In accordance with the applicable ISSF requirements, background data recording is permitted only in offline mode. An active Bluetooth connection between the BTe² trigger and the SHOOTER ANALYZE app is not permitted during the competition phase.
Green LED: Offline mode – background data recording is permitted.
Blue LED: Online mode – an active Bluetooth connection to the SHOOTER ANALYZE app is established. This mode is not permitted during the competition phase.
During the competition, the jury may check that only the green LED is illuminated.
Important: Violations of the applicable ISSF rules may result in a warning or disqualification. Therefore, make sure the BTe² trigger is in offline mode before the competition begins.
